Did You Know? Archives

OK, this is too funny. I thought I’d heard and seen it all when I saw Fabio as the New Old Spice Guy. Then I found out that he challenged Isaiah Mustafa, a.k.a. The Old Old Spice Guy to a duel. Now I’ve seen it all.

So who won the “Mano a Mano en El Bano” (hand-to-hand in the bathroom) competition? Well, even though Fabio used to rock the romance covers and was considered to be the epitome of sexy once upon a time, the Old Spice Guy Isaiah Mustafa won the challenge based on Likes and online comments. I mean, come on, who’s mood isn’t instantly improved when the Old Spice Guy appears and says the now famous opening, “Hello ladies”?

FYI – Did you know Isaiah used to play football? Now you can see him in Horrible Bosses and next year in Three Stooges.

Check out the challenge below. It’s too funny. Which Old Spice Guy do you like better? :D

Are you watching “Rocco’s Dinner Party” on Bravo? Well you should be, especially this week if you’re a Raven Symone fan. Every week 3 chefs compete to create the perfect dinner party for celebrity chef Rocco DiSpirito and his celebrity guests. Whichever chef concocts the best dinner party wins a cool $20, 000. Easy peasey, right?

This week Rocco’s guest is the charming Raven Symone, who you’ll also see returning to TV in her new show “State of Georgia”, a comedy series where she acts as an aspiring actress trying to make it in NYC. And just what will she be doing on “Rocco’s Dinner Party” you ask? Well she’s got the fun task of helping Rocco and his other celebrity guests evaluate two “Gastropub” style dinner parties! And that’s not all that’s happening on Wednesday night.

During the show, Chef Rocco is giving one lucky viewer plus a guest the chance to win a trip to New York City to attend the October NYC Wine and Food Festival. So this is how it works:

While you’re watching “Rocco’s Dinner Party,” visit Chef Rocco’s “Watch & Win” contest application on his Facebook page here: http://on.fb.me/RoccoWatchandWin for your chance to win a luxurious trip for two to meet him and assist him at the October 2011 NYC Wine & Food Festival! I am just loving all the True Blood goodness! Someone in the cast geeks out over The Vampire Diaries too!

Star sightings in Vancouver are no big deal, but it is when Matt Damon shows up with a buzzed head! The star has completely shaved his head down to the cue ball and goes for a stroll in downtown Vancouver. He’s in the BC metropolis filming Elysium, an original sci-fi movie written and directed by Neill Blomkamp (District 9). Also set to star in the film is Jodie Foster, William Fichtner, Alice Braga, and Diego Luna.

Elysium is a sci-fi/allegory film set 150 years in the future on another planet. And it looks like Damon will be spending much of the summer in Vancouver filming the alien movie — from July 25th to September 27th to be exact. So Vancouver, if you manage to snap any cast sightings, be sure to send them my way and I’ll post them on the The Scribe’s Desk!

Elysium is set to be released March 1st, 2013.

I’m not a huge Bradley Cooper fan, but I have to give him an A+ for this movie. I wasn’t expecting much from this film and watched it out of boredom more than anything else and I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised. The cinematography was very unique in the way it portrayed how the drug made you “see” the world. It was almost as if the cinematographer wanted you to “see through” the clear pill that was NZT as if you were holding it up to your eye. It’s a neat concept, to think what your life could be like if you could use 100% of your brain at the same time. The main character Eddie (Bradley Cooper) is one entertaining slacker turned whiz kid. Limitless is definitely a fun film to watch and The Scribe’s Desk gives it 3.5 loupes out of 5.

Did You Know?: Limitless is based on the 2001 novel The Dark Fields by Alan Glynn? Don’t you just love books on film?
