Okay, so I enjoy all the madness of awards season. Who doesn’t? Anyways, I tuned in for the Golden Globes which is not as staid as the Oscars and rumor has it that the Globes is a pretty good indication of which way Oscar will nod his golden head.
There was a lot of love granted to the little movie Slum Dog Millionaire, an unexpected sleeper hit, which won Best Original Score, Best Screenplay, Best Director, and Best Motion Picture Drama. Heath Ledger won posthumously Best Performance By An Actor In A Supporting Role In A Motion Picture and big, big surprise Mickey back from the dead Rourke won Best Actor In A Motion Picture beating out high rollers like Brad Pitt and Leo DiCaprio, who by the way can’t seem to get any love at any awards show. Go figure. On the other hand, Kate Winslet won both awards she was nominated for, Best Performance By An Actress In A Supporting Role in a Motion Picture and Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture Drama. Colin Farrell waxed poetic during his acceptance speech for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. Who knew? Miss Jolie’s gut wrenching performance in The Changeling was overlooked, but I’m not suprised as we all know she can deliver those emotions that are not easy to tap into on screen. Maybe the Hollywood Foreign Press is bored with the same old stuff. Maybe Mrs. Pitt should do a comedy next? Anyways, awards panels can be fickle and time and again we see the favorites overlooked for those performances which somehow slide under the radar of public notice but obviously resonate with awards judges.
Wall-E won a well deserved Best Animated Feature Film Award and Steven Spielberg’s exonerated film career was honored with the esteemed Cecil B. DeMille Award. All in all, a good awards show, but I am, however, disappointed that Benjamin Button didn’t win, or Brad Pitt or Angie J. However, I loved WALL-E and Colin Farrell so I will check out In Bruges. I guess I need to go see Slum Dog Millionaire , too, so I can decide if it was deserving of an Oscar or not if it should win one.

Benjamin Button and Brad Pitt should have won. I hope they win oscars!
I wonder why Brad has never won anything? He has been prolific in his roles over the years, it makes you wonder whose butt needs to be kissed or whose ego must be stroked in order to win……I still have not seen Changeling, but in the previews, AJ acted so sincere it was upsetting to watch!

I'm surprised that after all these years and great screen performances that Mr.Pitt has not as yet won any awards. Hmmm, makes you think doesn't it?? Maybe he'll get one yet!! I'm going to watch Benjamin Button soon.
I love your blog site, its quite interesting, and really quite accurate. Keep up the good work.
