Happy 36th Birthday!

Woops! How could I miss that? Well, I was in the land of updates and such while Angelina Jolie was celebrating her 36th birthday, so hopefully you’ll excuse me.

Like with wine, this gal just seems to be getting better with age, so I’ve compiled a few images of her thru the years. She’s gone from free spirited wild child, to Oscar winner, United Nations Goodwill Ambassador, devoted mom, and now she can add director to her list of accomplishments.

Did you know that Angelina Jolie is designing jewelry with Robert Procop?

She has managed to revamp her image and literally transform herself into a highly respected mega watt movie star with a heart of philanthropic gold. Doesn’t get any better than that, does it?

And now that her younglings are asking about marriage, can we expect her to add Mrs. Brad Pitt to her list of titles? Who knows, but I’ll bet that will cause more of a feeding frenzy than the Royal Wedding did. How much will that first picture be worth do you think?

So I was revisiting Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life the other day, a flick where Angelina Jolie searches for the legendary Pandora’s Box, and something tickled my brain and gave me pause. I found it interesting that both in the age of antiquity and in some of the minds of modern day, women are the vehicles responsible for the fall of man. Of course we all know the original sin story of Adam and Eve and the Garden of Eden and the snake and apple. It is probably the most famous of all ‘women are the root of all evil’ stories. I think there is even a creation movie lost somewhere in the Hollywood archives depicting this cataclysmic moment in time.

Angelina Jolie is an amazing actress, no doubt, but is she really the perfect Cleopatra?

Angelina Jolie As the Queen of the Nile? Is Hollywood in Denial?  The Following List of Actresses Would Be Better Suited for the Role

I’m a huge Angelina Jolie fan, have been for a very long time, and probably will be for some time to come. That being said, I think there are a BEVY of other beautiful and talented actresses who could portray Cleopatra Queen far better.  Word on the street is this movie is based on the book Cleopatra: A Life written by Pulitzer-prize winner Stacy Schiff.  I haven’t read it yet (and you haven’t either) because it isn’t even available until November 2010. Perhaps it will follow the belief that Cleopatra is descended from the Greek Macedonian, Ptolemy Soter, of the Ptolemy dynasty, and friend to Alexander the Great.

Imagine for a moment that this movie could be the very first Cleopatra biopic made by a major studio where an ethnic looking actress stars as the iconic, legendary and almost mythical Cleopatra. I have here a list of five actresses that I feel would be a better fit for the part. With one of these five actresses on board, all it would need is a stellar script and I could see this movie becoming a Hollywood blockbuster! [Read more...]
