Death By a Dark Horse by Susan Schreyer

Death By a Dark Horse by Susan Schreyer

It’s Saturday, which means we’ve  arrived at the last day of the amazing Indie Book Collective event “Get Loaded” (your Kindle that is!) Blog Tour de Force blog tour, and what a spectacular 12 days it has been! The last stop on the tour is over at the blog of Susan Schreyer, author of Death By a Dark Horse. It’s the final stop on the tour, and if you have been diligently following along, there is a darn good chance you may receive some just rewards!

Death By a Dark Horse is the debut novel of author Susan Schreyer. It has a few of the things I just happen to adore: horses, mystery, intrigue, suspense and a little bit of danger, with a dash of romance and a pinch of the paranormal. Sounds like a recipe for a good read if you ask me. Read on for the editorial details!

“Thea Campbell goes out for revenge when the one person who is simultaneously the most likely and least likely candidate for thief steals her horse. But Olympic hopeful Valerie Parsons is past caring about being arrested. She’s dead. At first Thea’s horse is assumed to have killed the woman, but when the coroner determines it was a human hand and not a horse’s hoof that ended Valerie’s life Thea becomes a person of interest. Now intimidating people with little regard for due process are showing up on her doorstep looking to even the score. Toss in her wrecked love life, a sexy geology professor who stirs up more than dust, and an alleged psychic horse, and it soon becomes apparent that Thea’s predictable life is now out of control. As she takes charge of clearing herself of the murder she discovers the victim had a knack for making enemies—one of whom is Thea’s ditsy sister. She pursues her investigation with more at stake than ever, and in a seedy biker bar comes face-to-tattoo with information that will lead the police to the real killer. She dutifully reports to the detective in charge. But Thea is wrong. As close to dead wrong as she ever wishes to get.”

Forsaken by Shadow by Kait Nolan

Forsaken by Shadow by Kait Nolan

The Blog Tour de Force “Get Loaded” (your Kindle that is!) Indie Book Collective event is moving full steam ahead. The very popular Kait Nolan is our author of the day, stop 10 on the blog tour, and her book Forsaken by Shadow is on deck.

Imagine you are in the book store (virtual or 3D) and you stumble upon an intriguing title and your interest is piqued. It just happens to be Forsaken by Shadow by Kait Nolan. The first thing you wonder is if there is any relation to Hollywood phenom filmmaker and genius Christopher Nolan, because if she is, this is bound to be an extraordinary book. The very next thing that grabs your attention is the details about the story nicely summed up for you. Your eyes scan the paragraph:

A Novella of the Mirus:

Banished from their world with his memory wiped, Ultimate Fighter Cade Shepherd doesn’t remember his life as Gage Dempsey, not even the woman he nearly died for. But when Embry Hollister’s father is kidnapped by military scientists, the only one she can turn to for help is the love from her past. Will Gage remember the Shadow Walker skills he learned from her father, and if they survive, will Embry be able to walk away a second time?

Intriguing, right? Now, here’s the buzz about the book:

“The action scenes in Forsaken by Shadow are gripping and fast paced. They had me holding my breath for the characters as they fought for survival. More importantly, Ms. Nolan had me WANTING them all to live and be safe… Kait Nolan has created a world that is fascinating, magical and dangerous. If you enjoy Jennifer Rardin, Shannon K. Butcher, or Devon Monk you’ll really enjoy Forsaken by Shadow.”

~ Brenda Hyde, Moonsanity, via Amazon

“…a suspensful, entertaining urban fantasy set in an intriguing world where the paranormal hides beneath the known. Worth checking out!”

~ A. M. Harte, via Smashwords

“…Forsaken By Shadow is a must read.”

~ Regina Linton, via Smashwords

A Walk in the Snark The Best of RachelintheOC by Rachel Thompson

A Walk in the Snark The Best of RachelintheOC by Rachel Thompson

Already it’s day 9 of the “Get Loaded” (your Kindle that is!) Blog Tour de Force, an Indie Book Collective event. The next stop on the tour is over at the blog of very cool author Rachel Thompson. Her book A Walk in the Snark is book 9 on the tour. So join me, and let’s visit Rachel as she enjoys her day in the spotlight!

Rachel has been described as “a fiery redhead in a sea of blondes”. As her Twitter handle implies, @RachelintheOC, you can imagine her being surrounded by blondes. She’s also known for her snarky wit, and readers of her blog enjoy her sense of humor on a daily basis. Her book A Walk in the Snark dishes on the day to day of relationships, manspeak, chickspeak, and includes a spattering of made up words, which to me, being that I am a Namer, is a fine art! Her brilliant phrase about men and women, “Men are from Seinfeld and women are from Friends.”, is hilarious but oddly true. If you’ve ever seen her tweets, you know RachelintheOC is hilarious and clever, so don’t miss a chance to get your hands on her book A Walk in the Snark!

Praise for A Walk in the Snark by Rachel Thompson

“Crisp, cutting and caffeinated. A gem of a read.”

Rebecca Tsaros Dickson
Author of I Could Tell You Stories and editor in chief of Indie Ink

“The author’s wicked sense of humor sprinkles everyday stories of relationship angst with spicy hot pepper with keeping it real adventure.”

Bonnie Jean Adams
Chicago Culture and Events Examiner

“Rachel Thompson, author of A Walk In The Snark, writes non-fiction that makes you laugh and think… One reviewer said her book should “be at the top of your ‘recommended reading list for you and your guymanperson. Maybe it should even be a required reading “manual” for marriage. I’m pretty sure it could solve ALL the problems couples face, stop global warming and result in a true and lasting world peace.”

Play Fling by Amber Scott

Play Fling by Amber Scott

It’s Tuesday today, and that means it’s day 8 of the “Get Loaded” (your Kindle that is!) Blog Tour de Force, an Indie Book Collective event. It also means the next stop on the tour is over at the blog of author extraordinaire Amber Scott. We get to take a peek at her uber hilarious and wonderful book Play Fling, a book definitely worthy of your attention and book 8 on the tour.

“Playing cupid isn’t a reward; it’s Millie’s punishment. If she doesn’t find repressed, divorcee, Brooke, true love in the next thirty days, Millie’ll lose the one thing in this life sentence worth fighting for, her partner. Just two problems: First, Millie sucks at matchmaking. Second, too young, too hot, Elliott keeps getting in Millie’s way.”

~ via Smashwords

I was lucky enough to get a chance to review her novel Play Fling, and let me tell you what a romp of a read! I had a great time enjoying the pages of this book. I laughed (boy did I ever!), I was shocked (lots of gasping and saying, “Oh my!” and, “No way!”), and when I was done, I knew I definitely wanted to read more books about Millie Match and her matchmaking! As soon as I picked up this book and read the first paragraph, I was excited to read this book. Not only did I feel a certain camaraderie with the cupid Millie’s target Brooke Munkle, I was amused by both Brooke and Millie, and I was genuinely rooting for them both. Brooke was likable in such a way that not only did I really like her, but I could see her as a friend I would want to make a match for too! And Millie, Brooke’s cupid, was such a breath of fresh air. She’s funny, irksome and entertaining as a fledgling cupid. Her bumbling attempts at match making were comical and well intended, even if they were a little motivated by self interest. Brooke’s love interest, the gorgeous Elliott, was a guy any girl could, pardon the expression, go ga-ga for. Elliott and Brooke were definitely two people I wanted to see get together! Their love story, as unlikely as it is, will leave you with a genuine smile on your face. This book is hot and fun and a real guilty pleasure! It’s bittersweet, romantic, and hopeful. It’s a book that will have you turning the pages rapidly, eager to find out what’s going to happen next. Play Fling deserves to go on your bookshelf, be it 3D or virtual, and is a Millicent Match Novel worth reading!
