Alcide TrueBlood Season 3 Trouble via SciFiMafia

Alcide TrueBlood Season 3 Trouble via SciFiMafia

Oh my Godric! Tonight’s episode was gooood! There was definitely “Trouble” with a capital T for a lot of the characters! Sookie, Alcide, Bill, Tara, Tommy. Gosh! Even Jesus’ interest in Lafayette has me skittish! Though I am happy as heck for Lafayette. He deserves some happiness in his life. Let’s hope it’s really something. Terry is another one I feel pangs for. I am so happy for him, but Arlene, you are fixin’ to break his heart. You may just break the man when it happens….and it will, because solid, lasting happiness seems fleeting for the residents of Bon Temps. Must be all the supernatural-ness in the air. It just seems to create drama (lucky for us Trubies though!).

BTW, Franklin, you are such a freak! But it’s all good, this is TrueBlood afterall, and being a wee bit (or majorly) unbalanced seems to be par for the course. Yet you are exceedingly good at your job! I must give you that.

And just what is up with the Mickens? What is Tommy hiding? Whatever it is, it’s sure to be shock worthy. Not shocking, however, is Jason’s habit of falling for the wrong women. Even when they admittedly have secrets they are unwilling to share with him, he just can’t help falling head over heels for ‘em.

Eric is so_________ via SciFiMafia

Eric is so_________ I will let you finish that any way you want to!

Eric just keeps getting deeper and deeper. I love it, as Eric definitely is my favorite character. He is just so deliciously shameless and delectably jaded in so many ways. However, if I know anything, this is a sure sign of a character with a vulnerable heart, and we keep seeing tasty glimpses of it. He sure is taking his sweet time with Sookie, however.

One person not wasting any time is Tommy, making the moves on Jessica. I guess it can take less than 90 days, baby vamp J. And speaking of Jessica, she just keeps making me laugh with her antics. She seems to be getting on just fine on her own.

Sookie sure is fiesty, but Debbie looks like she can be rabid, so watch out Sookie. I don’t think even Bill can keep you safe. And Bill, I’m so glad you’ve stopped acting out of character, even if it was only long enough to warn Sookie. You’ve gained some redemption in my books….slightly. Unfortunately, it looks like you’ll be at the mercy of Lorena. Eric has some sort of agenda that may or may not have priority over his lust for Sookie, despite the heated flavor of his vampire fantasies. Looks to me like Talbot may be an unexpected tool in Eric’s arsenal. The Northman’s appeal seems to know no bounds.

So who will help Sookie now? Well, Alcide, it looks like she may be left in your very capable hands. You two just keep being thrown together. What an interesting foursome. Eric, Sookie, Bill and Alcide, oh my! Want to see something else interest peaking? Check out next week’s episode, compliments of TrueBlood-news.com!

~P.S.~ Things don’t look good for the Magistrate (he’s kind of a buzz kill, anyway. I won’t miss him!) or for Queen Sophie Ann. Can you say comeuppance? I just hope Pam makes it. I’m confident that Eric will make it in time, even if the king keeps putting him off. I can’t wait to find out what that power is that Sookie possesses. It’s amazing to everyone who sees it! Just what are you, Sookie? One thing’s for sure, TrueBlood doesn’t disappoint. It’s one show that always leaves you wanting more! Can’t wait until next week!

DISCLAIMER: READ AT OWN RISK! IT’S SPOILER CITY!

Bill! For shame!

Bill! For shame!

Well, I have a few things to say. Here goes:

Bill: How could you!?! That was THE harshest break up call I’ve ever been privy to! And over the phone! What ever happened to your Old World charm and chivalry? Your true vampire nature has been revealed. You were very scary tonight. I’m seeing sides to you I never dreamed you were capable of. I know you’re just trying to keep Sookie safe, but come on!

Sookie: Poor Sookie. I just wanted to give you a hug. You were really crying like your heart was completely broken. (I so believed Anna Paquin‘s performance. She is one stellar actress. And she didn’t get an Emmy nod why?) I think we all felt the way she felt at least once. 90 days, Sookie. 90 days to get over Bill. Or would it be longer because he’s a vampire?

Eric: Oh, what layers you have! I love it! I love seeing your sensitive side. I can’t wait to see all your little fantasies come true.

Tara: Oh, Tara. Tara, Tara, Tara. Don’t you know loose lips sink ships? I know you were under his spell, but still! Don’t you know very few mortals are impervious to the vampire glamour? I know you’re a tough little scrapper, but close your eyes next time! Remember that the saying goes, you attract to you what you are! Franklin is your vampire mirror image. I knew he was going to bite you when you least wanted it. Oh, Tara. Be careful what you wish for.

Franklin: You’re one twisted devil! Although, every time I hear your name I can’t help but think of Franklin the turtle. Just what are your crazy plans?

Sam: I guess you can’t choose your family, huh? Sometimes it’s just too late to be a big brother. I hope Tommy doesn’t screw you over. Remember, nice guys finish last.

Jessica: I love watching you learn and grow! You are so adorable. Give you some time and you will be a vampire to reckon with.

Hoyt: Jessica is never going to be with you unless you are a vampire. Move on, or get bit.

Lafayette: You’s one lucky brother. You feelin’ me? It sure is great to have friends in high places. (And vampires for friends!)

Arlene: The truth always comes out in the end. Could it be Renee’s love child? You are in a fine pickle now. If you don’t tell Terry, you’ll break his heart when he finds out. If you do tell Terry, you’ll break his heart because you lied. Even if you’d told him the truth right from the beginning….well, you might have broken his heart anyway. Rock…Arlene…hard place.

Jason: Blackmail? Really?

Andy: Tangled webs. Deception is never a good thing, even if it is for a reason you believe to be right. You’ll always have regrets.

Pam: I hope for your sake Eric succeeds. I will miss you if you come to a permanent end. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone more faithfully loyal. Eric will be grief stricken if you experience a true death. Will Sookie be there to comfort him? Only time will tell, but I hope Eric doesn’t fail and truly cares for you, and does everything he can to save you, his child. Hopefully your loyalty isn’t misplaced.

Alcide: Keep working out. It looks good on you. Oh, and FYI — you deserve someone WAAAAY better than Debbie.

Lou Pines: Love the play on words.

Lorena: You need to find someone else to love. Might take a little longer than 90 days though.

Russell: Can you say diabolique? A true vampire embracing vampire practicality and vice without regret or conscience you are.

Needless to say this episode was delicious as usual, and yes, I want more! There was indeed some serious f***ed up-ness in this episode. The lives of these fantastic TrueBlood characters are getting more and more tangled. Just take a sneak peek at next week’s episode!

~P.S.~ Recognize Alcide from anywhere? You might want to check out One Tree Hill.

According to this graph posted by Cesar Kuriyama, it’s going downhill. Yikes! I like M. Night Shyamalan movies. I’m a fan. But even I must admit I wasn’t too keen on the Lady in the Water flick. Sorry M. :(

Ouch!

Ouch!

I want to see The Last Airbender. I’m hopeful. I want to like it. I tend to stay away from reviews until I see any movie. That way I can draw my own conclusions and go into the movie without any predestined judgement. I guess I’ll have to make a point of seeing some of Mr. Shyamalan’s movies I haven’t seen yet before I can comment honestly on which direction his career is headed. At least he’s making movies, though. That’s pretty cool!

What do you think of M. Night Shyamalan’s cinematic groove? Uphill? Downhill? Plateaued? Do you agree with this graph? Let me know what you think!

I like to read Ziggy Kinsella’s blog The Feckless Goblin. It’s pretty cool if you ask me. One day I received one of his tweets (you see, I follow him on Twitter), and I rushed over to said blog to read his latest post. It was a really good one.

I read his post Tough on the causes of fear… and for some reason, I was compelled to write. I was stoked to leave a comment, and wrote something I never dreamed I’d ever get down on paper. It terrified me at the time I wrote it. It terrifies me now as I sit here in the quiet of my house late at night, alone in my livingroom while my Youngling slumbers peacefully upstairs. They say writing is cathartic. It can be. This time, though, I’m not sure what to think. I still have no idea why I felt the need to write this experience on paper. Maybe it’s all a part of my “facing my fears mind set” thing I have going on these days. Anyways, take from it what you will. Whether to believe it or not, well, that’s up to you. But tell me, what are you afraid of?

Terror

What scares the hell out of me? Well, I’ll tell you.
When I was 15, I lay in the comfort of my cozy single bed. My room was small and every shape, silhouette and shadow was familiar to me. It was my safe place, my sanctuary. Then one night, for no apparent reason, a presence entered my room. I heard a growl right by my right ear. So close I could feel it’s breath. I was PETRIFIED with an incomprehensible fear. I could not move and every sense strained for reason — an explanation — though I knew there was no answer that would seem logical or believable. My breath stopped and held tight in my chest, my body so rigid, every muscle tensed, frozen.
I began to pray like I never prayed before in my life. Babbling bits and pieces of remembered prayers, warnings from my mother about spirits and what to do to protect yourself if ever you were unlucky enough to draw their attention. Then slowly I released my breath, listening to the darkness.
Just as I started to relax, thinking I had imagined it, there it was again, that low, deep, menacing growl at the foot of my bed. Feverishly I began to pray again, begging for protection and willing whatever it was come to terrify me to be banished from me, from my room.
The inky darkness retreated and vanished and the moon shone brightly in my window again; as if whatever it was that had visited me had obscured the moon’s pale, silvery, reassuring light.
I have never felt such terror. I was exhausted from it.
Immediately I turned on my excruciatingly bright reading lamp that was clamped to my headboard, and lay wide eyed and filled with dread in my little bed. I no longer felt safe, and from then on for many years later, I slept with the light on. Even now, I sleep in the safety of a little nightlight in my room and in the upstairs hallway.
I don’t like to think about what happened that night in the darkness for fear of drawing the notice of that terrible entity once more. I have never written it down like this before now. And even now, in the safety of daylight in my livingroom with my daughter playing on the floor, the TV on and the comfort of my laptop on my lap, I tremble. What will I unleash in the writing of this?
What did I do to come to the attention of the monster that lurks in the blackness? I don’t know. But everyday of my waking life, I am aware of the things that hover just beyond the light, waiting. Each night before I go to bed, I push away the memory of that night, refusing to think about it.
It scares me now, and I think it always will.

Avatar

Visually stunning, amazing, spectacular, mindbending, stellar, epic, absorbing, and did I say visually stunning? Amazing? Spectacular? Mindbending? Stellar? Epic? Absorbing? Well, I just cannot begin to tell you just how much I enjoyed this movie. I haven’t enjoyed a movie this much since LOTR and believe you me, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE LOTR. Avatar has become in a matter of hours my second favorite movie of all time. And that is saying alot. It is a totally exhilarating 3D experience so real you’ll forget where you are and is not to be missed! So get ready, because I am about to wax poetic and totally indulge my sci-fi/fantasy lovin’ self.

James Cameron has done it again, giving us something so memorable, so believable, so fantastical that you really believe there is a world named Pandora that glows with a breath taking phosphorescence by night, peopled by the peaceful, towering yet graceful and catlike Na’vi who coexist in an almost perfect balance with equally terrifying and terrifyingly beautiful creatures. What would it be like to live in a waking dream? Well, this is a story that makes you wonder. Jake Sully, our hero, takes us on an unforgettable adventure where an unimaginable existence is possible.

Sam Worthington is brilliant as Jake Sully, bringing a childlike wonder to his newly awakened avatar, and then in the end making us believe he has the strength of character to redeem himself. Zoe Saldana is captivating, astonishingly beautiful, and full of strength and fierceness — especially when protecting her mate— infusing Neytiri with such a riveting vibrance you can barely take your eyes off her. It was very satisfying to see Sigourney Weaver, who plays Dr. Grace Augustine, in the skin of the alien Na’vi avatar. Even as her avatar her face was recognizable and it felt like coming home, like she had come full circle from her days as a**kicking Ripley. At peace at last. Who could be more perfect to play the Na’vi and nature loving scientist than her? She was delicious. And Stephen Lang as Colonel Miles Quaritch was a villain extraordinaire. He was absolutely despicable in a most base and vile and detestable way. In a nutshell, he really makes you hate him. Giovanni Ribisi as Parker Selfridge (or Parker Selfish more like!) played the money grubbing exec to the tee, and if he had a conscience, he definitely checked it at the door. And nobody plays tough girl with heart like Michelle Rodriguez as the uber pilot with a heart of gold Trudy Chacon. She’s a gal you know can kick some serious a** if she had to and my only complaint was that she went down in a blaze of glory instead of seeing the battle to the end.

Avatar has been compared to Dances With Wolves, but really, other than someone empathizing with a misunderstood people who happen to have something of value that someone else wants, the similarities end there. Somebody once told me that every story has already been told, and Avatar simply tells a story worth telling.

At the heart of this story is “Jakesully’s” and Neytiri’s love story. Love is the catalyst in this movie. It confirms for me yet again the monumental changes and actions that love is capable of igniting and creating. If not for love, the Na’vi would have been doomed. In all the great stories, time and time again, it is love that makes things possible. It allows people of all races to “see“. People who can “see” realize truth, and how can we say full scale annihilation due to greed is ever the way to go? How can that not be seen as clearly wrong? How can the destruction of everything good ever be worthwhile in the end?

Woven within the tapestry of this story is the plight of Earth. Indeed in this distant future, Earth is a barren rock, humans have succeeded in “killing our mother”, and it is a sad, sad thought. So now humans deem the Na’vi to be lesser people, lesser because they seem primitive and simple to the humans in this tale who take whatever they want because they can. And woe to any and all who stand in their way. It is here that the more vile core of greed winds it’s way to the heart of the matter. The Na’vi are situated on a money pit, and the human race wants it. Against mighty war machines of metal and giant mechanical suits of armor, what chance do the Na’vi have with their bows and arrows and their all encompassing belief in the spiritual power of Pandora?

So ensues the battle for survival, and let me tell you my friends, what a battle it is! The action is riveting and filled with nail biting thrills and the terror of war. In fact, all throughout the entire movie there isn’t a single opportunity for one’s mind to wander. The tranquil lulls are enthralling and the sudden excitement is thrilling as we shamelessly watch Jake becoming a Na’vi, living his dream life with convincing realism, doing all the wonderful and freeing things the Na’vi do on a daily basis. It makes Jake long to be his “dreamwalker” avatar and leave the reality of his wheelchair bound body behind. But wouldn’t you if you could dreamwalk like Jake does? Can you imagine bonding with the very earth, the very flora, the very fauna?  I truly understood the meaning of organic watching this movie. Can you imagine what it would be like living in a perfect balanced harmony, happy just to be and respectful of all living things around you? What a wonderful world that would be.

And what a mesmerizing and wonderful movie James Cameron has created. It was more than I expected and everything I hoped that it would be. After seeing Avatar, I felt like I had been a part of something quite magical and beautiful and the three hours passed as if in a dream.

~P.S.~ James Horner scored this movie, and even tho it was reminiscent of some of his other scores, the music for Avatar is very lovely indeed and captures the essence of the joy of Pandora and the Na’vi.
