Our favorite wizarding trio.

How many kids grew up with this saga? How many parents and adults grew older with this franchise? (hehe) As we have grown and changed, so has our favorite wizarding trio, three kids who have brought some magic into the lives of millions of fans around the world. And though it seems that Harry Potter has been with us forever, in fact it has only lasted a decade. However, a lot can happen in 10 years, and there were a lot of things that happened in this 10 year long saga. So Warner Bros. released a featurette that takes a look back at the blockbuster franchise, it’s Harry Potter in a 5 minute nutshell, highlighting the events in the entire saga.

It all ends on July 15th with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, but before that happens, let’s journey back in time to where it all began…

Thanks Matt for the heads up!

Movies and television just wouldn’t be the same without wardrobe. Wardrobe is responsible for enhancing setting, defining a character’s personality, and acts as an indicator for era and status. Hollywood, celebrity and fashion go hand and hand, and a change in personal style or being seen in hot designer fashion can sometimes catapult a star into the limelight. Welcome Wardrobe Wednesdays where we examine the link between fashion, celebrity and Hollywood.

Cameron Diaz has been a Hollywood staple for a long time now. In fact, her breakout role was playing the oh, so fresh and sweet Tina Carlyle in the 1994 blockbuster movie “The Mask. I never thought of Cameron as either stylish or as a clotheshorse until I saw the promotions for her new movie “Bad Teacher”. Every outfit is so well put together and luxurious, but what stood out to me the most is her shoes.

Just look at how Cameron Diaz rocks the red bottoms!! They appear throughout the entire movie. The stylists for this movie deserve a raise and some praise. Each shoe I’ve seen on Cameron is to die for.

So if you are looking to watch a movie that looks funny, maybe has a touch of romance, and has fashion for days, go see “Bad Teacher”. and be sure to come back and let us know what you thought about Cameron’s shoes! :D

Who didn’t love Dirty Dancing? Who didn’t root for Baby and her love Johnny from the other side of the tracks? Who didn’t rejoice when they did the final dance and really did look like they had the time of their life? This is one of my favorite movies of all times and whenever I hear this song I can’t help but be happy. I hope you enjoy this pick for Music Monday!

Here it is, “Time of My Life” by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes from the movie Dirty Dancing starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey. Both the song and movie are classics that never, ever get old. :D

I've Had The Time Of My Life by Discodandan

“Time of My Life” Lyrics

Now I’ve had the time of my life
No I never felt like this before
Yes I swéar it’s the truth
and I owe it all to you
‘Cause I’ve had the time of my life
and I owe it all to you
I’ve been waiting for so long
Now I’ve finally found someone
To stand by me
We saw the writing on the wall
As we felt this magical
Fantasy
Now with passion in our eyes
There’s no way we could disguise it
Secretly
So we take each others hand
‘Cause we seem to understand
The urgency just remember
You’re the one thing
I can’t get enough of
So I’ll tell you something
This could be love because

CHORUS:

I’ve had the time of my life
No I never felt this way beforeYes I swear it’s the truth
And I owe it all to you
With my body and soul
I want you more than you’ll ever know
So we’ll just let it go
Don’t be afraid to lose control
Yes I know what’s on your mind
When you say “Stay with me
tonight.” Just remember
You’re the one thing I can’t get enough of
So I’ll tell you something
This could be love because

CHORUS

‘Cause I’ve had the time of my life
And I’ve searched through every open door
Till I’ve found the truth
and I owe it all to you

CHORUS

It’s the end of a magical era.

All good things come to end. Sad but true. After a decade of Hogwarts, wands and our favorite wizards and witches, the uber popular Harry Potter series of films is coming to an end. Maybe you’ll cry and maybe you won’t, but Harry Potter has changed the way we look at films and books and writing forever. The impact this story has had on the world will reverberate through time and will be hailed as a classic when our children’s children are taking English lit in school. And just like millions of you, this writer will miss having some Harry Potter-ish to look forward to.

J.K. Rowling says it best,

“No story lives unless someone wants to listen. So thank you, all of you.”

At no time in literary or cinematic history has this statement been more true than with the Harry Potter series. Harry Potter is truly the boy who lived, and he will live with us for a very, very, long, long time, because the stories we love best really do stay with us forever. What will you take with you from this epic story?

When it come to movies, Canada has much to offer in the way of brilliance and creativity. So, in honor of Canada Day, I’ve put together a list of 5 movies linked together by a common theme — some great Canadian talent! So pop some popcorn tonight after the fireworks and sit back and enjoy a flick or two with some of the finest Canuck talent attached to it! Happy Canada Day everyone!

5. Splice – Who doesn’t love the independent and edgy Sarah Polley? She’s one stellar Canuck who gives this Sci-Fi flick some serious thespian attitude.

4. Juno – This is an academy award winning film with the indomitable and awesome Canuck actress Ellen Page.

3. Million Dollar Baby – It seems that anything Paul Haggis touches turns to Oscar gold… or millions of dollars. He’s one Canuck with some serious clout.

2. Avatar – No matter how many times I see this film, I am still blown away by its scope and beauty. James Cameron has been called a visionary and he truly is one of Canada’s most imaginative filmmakers of our time.

1. Uncle Buck – An oldie but goodie, pretty much anything with the late John Candy in it is sure to entertain.

Which one will you watch? :D
