This was the summer of unforeseen circumstances. It is due to these unforeseen circumstances that I’ve been away from The Scribe’s Desk for the last few days. Mayhem has ruled the roost this week at The Scribe’s Desk headquarters and unfortunately (and with my apologies) the usual True Blood post you wait for every Sunday/Monday is MIA, but never fear. I will be posting an abbreviated version of the review and finish the week with some great ish.

And even though things have been hectic, chaotic and filled with the unforeseen this summer, things at TSD headquarters have been abuzz with a stellar amount of creativity that I can’t wait to share with you in the coming months. September is right around the corner which means the Youngling will be back at school and we’ll return to our regular scheduled programming at The Scribe’s Desk.

So I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of you, my wonderful readers, for your loyalty, your continued reading, and of course, for your patience. You rock!

Disney’s Tangled is one of my favorite Disney movies. It’s Disney’s 50th animated film, it’s cute, funny, cool and has one of my favorite songs in it too. “I See the Light” sang by Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi is one of those songs that make your eyes water and shine with happiness. It’s a popular wedding song too from what I hear. It also makes me want to bust out the karaoke machine and start singing from the rooftops. I’ve included the song lyrics so you can sing along… because I know you’ll want to. It’s just one of those songs. Enjoy the video! :D

“I See the Light” Lyrics

All those days watching from the windows
All those years outside looking in
All that time never even knowing
Just how blind I’ve been
Now I’m here, blinking in the starlight
Now I’m here, suddenly I see
Standing here, it’s all so clear
I’m where I’m meant to be

And at last I see the light
And it’s like the fog has lifted
And at last I see the light
And it’s like the sky is new
And it’s warm and real and bright
And the world has somehow shifted
All at once everything looks different
Now that I see you

Eugene (Flynn):
All those days chasing down a daydream
All those years living in a blur
All that time never truly seeing
Things, the way they were

Now she’s here shining in the starlight
Now she’s here, suddenly I know
If she’s here it’s crystal clear
I’m where I’m meant to go

Rapunzel & Eugene (Flynn):
And at last I see the light

Eugene (Flynn):
And it’s like the fog has lifted

Rapunzel & Eugene (Flynn):
And at last I see the light

Rapunzel:
And it’s like the sky is new

Rapunzel & Eugene (Flynn):
And it’s warm and real and bright
And the world has somehow shifted
All at once, everything is different
Now that I see you, now that I see you

Every now and again one needs to “get away” and build sandcastles on the beach. So that is the plan for the gang at The Scribe’s Desk. But never fear! We’ll still be dishin’ the ish, just short and sweet and to the point!

Make sure to come back later today for the regular True Blood review. We’re at that point that everyone has been waiting for!

I heart the Earth!

I heart the Earth!

Happy Earth Day everyone! What special plans does everyone have to celebrate the day today? Are you planting a tree, a garden a house plant? Are you conserving electricity, water or making an extra special effort to pay careful attention to everything that can be recycled? Please share all the fun ways you plan on celebrating your love for the Earth today!

Happy Half Birthday!

Happy Half Birthday!

My Youngling has told me she plans not to play on her computer today, watch only a tiny bit of TV, not turn on her bedroom light until nighttime, and of course not take a bath today in her effort to conserve water. (Nice try!) And, speaking of the Youngling, today is her 1/2 birthday! She has been a joy in my life for exactly 6 1/2 years! So Happy Half Birthday Youngling! Have fun celebrating Earth Day today! :D

African Cats

African Cats

Disney is also celebrating with the release of African Cats. This looks like another winner for Disney. :D I mean, what’s not to like about spying on the lives of wild animals? (At least they are in their native environment and not prisoner at a truckstop like Tony the Tiger. Sign the petition to free Tony the Tiger here. Thanks to the Enviromommy blog for the awareness.) I wonder if Disney’s Cats will beat Water for Elephants. Only the battle at the box office results will tell!

Rapunzel Rapunzel let down your long hair.

I love these modern day twists on classic fairy tales. Somebody mentioned to me once that every story has been told a million times. Like I said, that doesn’t matter, as long as you tell it in a new and dynamic way we the audience, hasn’t seen before. Looks like another hit (and a possible franchise?) for Disney. This is a movie kids young, old, and with a mortgage will definitely enjoy! Tangled hits theaters November 24 in 3D.

On another note, I wonder what conditioner Rapunzel uses?
