Wardrobe Wednesday: The Skinny on Raven Symone
Movies and television just wouldn’t be the same without wardrobe. Wardrobe is responsible for enhancing setting, defining a character’s personality, and acts as an indicator for era and status. Hollywood, celebrity and fashion go hand and hand, and a change in personal style or being seen in hot designer fashion can sometimes catapult a star into the limelight. Welcome Wardrobe Wednesdays where we examine the link between fashion, celebrity and Hollywood.
The beautiful, the talented, the skinny Raven Symone. Raven has been around for almost all of my life and she’s always been cute, funny, and approachable. I have never thought about Raven and fashion in the same sentence until her recent transformation. All of a sudden, this chick has been everywhere! Wendy Williams, Peoples Choice Awards, not to mention product launches rocking the hottest designer clothes.
Raven looks sultry and sophisticated and so grown up in these outfits. She has lost a reported 35 – 40 pounds and to me it seems that the weight loss has allowed her to come out with her fashion guns blazing!
Do you think that now that she has lost so much weight, Hollywood will notice her more? Already she is a talented and very experienced actress, having worked since she was four. I feel like even though she has starred in the extremely successful Disney series Thats So Raven, she has been somewhat overlooked. The Britneys and Christinas got noticed faster perhaps due to their outrageous outfits and unchecked sex appeal, while Raven has most likely relied upon her skills to get noticed. Now that she is a more “popular” weight, it’s going to be interesting to see how clothing is going to help Raven climb the ladder. I bet you we will be seeing her in ways we would have never expected.
